Discover Newport’s annual Burger Bender returns to town with Newport area restaurants cooking up their most savory burger and tossing it into the ring to compete to be named the best burger in town. This year, Castle Hill, 22 Bowen’s, La Vecina, The Boat House and The Mooring are competing with their special burgers available from February 14th through the 23rd as part of this festive competition. Last year’s overall winner, 22 Bowen’s, is looking to defend their title with the 22 TRUFFLE BURGER made with Dry-aged beef patty, pecorino Moliterno, freshly shaved winter truffle, truffle aioli, crispy house-made potato chips, arugula, pretzel bun. Castle Hill Inn is serving a CHI M&M BURGER made with a Blackbird Farm beef burger, Rhode Island mushrooms, Melinda Mae, sunny side egg, smoked paprika aioli, served on a house-made onion roll. Vote for the CHI M&M Burger HERE
The Mooring is presenting the BOLO APETIT BURGER made with Short rib and brisket patty, chourico-onion jam, spicy pepper, mozambique aioli, fontina, sunny side egg, served on a toasted bolo bun. Vote for the Bolo Apetit Burger HERE
La Vecina enters the competition this year with their QUESO-STUFFED BIRRIA BURGER which is a patty stuffed with Queso and topped with birria, egg, fried shallots, roasted tomato salsa, guacamole, chipotle aioli, and lettuce, served with chips and queso. Vote for the Queso-Stuffed Birria Burger HERE
And after receiving Hall of Fame status in the non-beef burger category, the Boat House will be entering the beef competition with their BLACKBIRD FARMS PASTRAMI BURGER made with house-made pastrami, Jarlsberg cheese, mustard relish slaw, and bang bang aioli, served on a toasted pretzel roll.
